Dr. Gago conducts collaborative research in assistive and educational technologies such as health and energy informatics by designing, implementing, and evaluating user-centric digital applications. Dr. Gago is passionate about creating innovative, accessible, and more “humanized” and user-friendly technology to effectively empower users. He manages the ETAD projects and mentors students in research areas such as product and system engineering, human-computer interaction, design and prototyping, data visualization, intelligent user interfaces, computer games, and medical informatics. Dr. Gago also teaches a variety of courses in computer science, such as Data Structure Implementation and Analysis, Information Retrieval, and Computational Linear Algebra.

Guann-Pyng Li, PhD

Dr. Li is a professor at the University of California, Irvine, with appointments in electrical engineering and computer science, chemical engineering, materials science, and biomedical engineering. He serves as the Irvine division Director of the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology (Calit2) and director of UCI’s Integrated Nanosystems Research Facility in the Henry Samueli School of Engineering. Dr. Li works closely with Dr. Gago overviewing and managing the ETAD projects as a key part of Calit2 research activities.

Shelly Nazarenus

Shelly oversees all of the communication efforts for the Calit2 Irvine division, including the biannual “Interface” magazine, monthly e-newsletter, website, graphic identity, etc. She leads major events and interfaces with many constituents on and off campus. Shelly is very familiar with the ETAD group as part of the Calit2 research activities, and she helps with ETAD projects marketing communication and design.

Patricia Lim
Industry Research Development Strategist

Patricia serves as a liaison between Calit2’s research centers and local industry, strategizing and developing marketing and business plans. Working with directors and staff, she connects CalPlug, the eHealth Collaboratory, Resonance Labs,     INRF/BiON and LEXI with the business community, seeking to further develop ongoing collaborations, ignite new partnerships and attract industry sponsors.

Quinn graduated from UCI with a B.S. in Computer Game Science and is now researching engaging technologies. He focuses mainly on Augmented and Virtual Reality applications using Unity.

Kitana is a 4th year Art major with a minor in digital arts. She works as a multimedia artist that likes to explore in digital design and media.
